Emergency Financial Assistance Program (FAP)

Following the repeal of the Texas Dream Act in 2025, the Rooted Texas Collective launched a Financial Assistance Program to support students in navigating a sudden 4X hike in tuition costs. We continue to provide students with financial assistance to help offer stability and security, and to support immigrant students in graduating.

Donate to our GoFundMe and help us keep more students enrolled at UT this fall and spring semesters.

The Rooted Financial Assistance Program provides financial assistance to immigrant students at UT Austin who have an immediate, unexpected expense due to circumstances beyond their control. Funding is limited, and the application will remain open until we have exhausted all funds available.

Types of verified emergencies that can be used to apply to our Emergency Financial Aid Program:

  • Tuition Relief

  • Rent/Housing

  • Transportation

  • Utilities

  • Legal Expenses

  • Educational Expenses

  • Other basic living expenses

    • Be a current undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin

    • Be an immigrant student (undocumented, temporary status, from mixed-status families, etg.)

    Awards vary and are based on the availability of funds.

  • Due to sudden changes in tuition costs for students under the Texas Dream Act, Rooted will prioritize tuition assistance relief.

    If applying for tuition relief, please email rootedut@gmail.com to receive an application form. Applications all welcomed and will be considered until we have exhausted all funds.

    • We will confirm we received and are processing your application. Expect to stay in contact with us about your situation.

    • We will follow up within a week, no more than two weeks. We will make an offer and upon your confirmation we will send next steps to distribute your award. Awards are contingent upon funding availability.

    • Application will remain open until we have exhausted all funds available.
